Measuring Calcium and Contractility from hiPSC-CMs

Check out the recent Circ. Research paper from T.K. Feaster et al. from Vanderbilt University! In it, they describe a new technique for preparing their hiPSC-CMs that yields cells functionally similar to freshly isolated adult rabbit and mouse cardiomyocytes. Their Matrigel mattress method for culturing allowed them to collect both contractile properties and calcium handling at the single cell level using an IonOptix Calcium and Contractility System.
