Pressurized Blood Vessels
Pressure myographs are used to cannulate small arteries so that they can be pressurized in a controlled way. Placing the myograph on a microscope allows the vessel to be imaged and vessel diameter to be tracked. It also opens the possibility of measuring fluorescence signals from the myograph.
IonOptix provides the hard- and software to enable automated tracking of the vessel diameter and simultaneously measure fluorescence.
Diameter The IonOptix edge detection software tracks the inside and/ or outside diameter of the vessel. Edge detection algorithms applied to digitized images allow dynamic tracking of the edges of the vessel. The data are then displayed in real time on the screen so that the researcher has immediate feedback whether a proper recording is being made.
Fluorescence IonOptix specializes in measuring ratiometric fluorescence, which is used to quantify intracellular Ca++, H+(pH) or Na+ concentrations, but the system is also suitable for fluorescence techniques such as FRET. IonOptix provides all the necessary hardware for rapid wavelength switching, coupling fluorescence excitation light into the microscope and detecting and quantifying the emitted fluorescence.
Myographs To be able to deliver fully integrated systems, we have adapted our hard- and software to work together with the pressure myographs from the two leading manufacturers, Danish Myotechnology (DMT) or Living Systems (LSI).
Below are links to some relevant papers that are published with combined IonOptix / pressurized myograph systems. It also provides the links to the publication abstracts.
