LED Light Source
Recent advances in light emitting diodes have led to a number or previously unavailable wavelengths, including higher energy UV LEDs for Fura-2 illumination. We’re proud to offer advanced LEDs offering excitation light for most common fluorophores. These LEDs feature closed-loop feedback control for stable intensity as well as protective overload circuitry to prevent LED damage. Wavelength switching is practically instantaneous and can be continuously alternated fast quantitative calcium measurements. LEDs offer several advantages over traditional light sources, including long lifetimes and almost monochromatic illumination for cleaner signal to noise. Using a beam combiner and select optics, output light is focused on the end of a liquid light guide. The opposite end of the light guide is equipped with a microscope-coupling adapter thus presenting excitation light into the body of the microscope and projected to the specimen. Microscope couplings are available for all commercial microscopes.
Excitation/emission optics can be ordered as required by the application.
