In this recent Circulation Research publication from researchers at Amsterdam UMC, the authors utilized the IonOptix/CytoCypher MultiCell System to screen a library of 157 kinase inhibitors for novel targets regulating cardiac contraction and relaxation. Their results identified 36 positive inotropes and lusitropes, most of which were novel observations. By honing their investigation on the positive lusitropes, they further identified three compounds that improved relaxation function in a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with diastolic dysfunction mouse model. In total, they acquired and analyzed contractility data from over 25,000 cardiomyocytes.
This investigation would have been prohibitively difficult without MultiCell. If you’re interested in performing similar measurements, please let us know.
